Apna Sapna Money Money - Club House Mix
IndiaGlitz  [Saturday, October 28, 2006]

Pritam is a talented music composer who is fast emerging as the man with a penchant-for-different-sound. His music refrains from the traditional stuff…It is more hip and it always aims at being happening. His music score of Apna Sapna Money Money starts off on an average note with the title song Jai Jai Money failing to have an Appeal-Quotient. The next number Gustakh Nigah doesn’t have anything new to offer either. But then three back-to-back groovy numbers in Dil Mein Baji Guitar, Paisa Paisa and Sania Badnaam make you singing praise for Pritam again. Even Aey Ganpat Baja Na is interesting for its music arrangements. Amongst the remixes, Paisa Paisa has two marvelous versions but the Jai Jai Money remixes disappoint. Overall, Apna Sapna Money Money is meant for the youngsters who will have several reasons to buy this album. The plusses are more than the minuses.

Jai Jai Money Money is a ‘different’ kinda song alright with a child/ dwarf voice beginning the proceedings eulogizing the facets of money power. Sukhwinder Singh shrieks in high pitched notes as this drum-n-bass heavy number fuses with Eminem like rap fixation of Bob. The child/ dwarf vocals intersperses now-n-then as I wonder if anyone can like such a bhelpuri of too-many-styles-of-music put together in such a disinterested manner as this. Jai Jai Money fails to begin things on a high.

Jai Jai Money has two remix versions. First is a Dub Mix by DJ A-Myth & DJ Kiran. You may like to have a good time with this one on the dance floor as its fast tempo is likable. The Arabic House Mix by DJ A-Myth & DJ Kiran doesn’t have anything outstanding to offer except a raised tempo and cacophony. Maybe a few of you may be ok with it on the dance floor but that’s about it. Jai Jai Money disappoints.

Gustakh Nigah has Alisha Chinai and Sukhwinder Singh trying to weave their magic in an average number talking about the perils of falling for magical eyes. This song has a middle-eastern belly dancing feel that may do for regular listening. Nothing outstanding about it, nor would you feel like playing it again and again…Alisha and Sukhwinder sing their parts competently. Flute fillers dot the song while rabab piece tries to add some liveliness in vain. The remix by Akbar Sami doesn’t have anything new to offer except for an add-on beat comprised of electronic claps. I don’t think it would really excite you on a dance floor and otherwise.

Dil Mein Baji Guitar is sung by an unusual choice in Mika Singh. Yes, he is the same guy who was involved not-so-long-ago in that infamous kissing controversy with queen of fluff, Rakhi Sawant. I would say, this one’s an interesting number that starts off with an appealingly sensuous electric guitar strain followed by the Punjabi dhol with a catchy guitar melody. Mika has sung this high-on-energetic-beat number in his characteristic irreverent manner and one feels like grooving to it. A keyboard generated melody is repeated now-n-then with chorus singers doing the trick too. Dil Mein Baji Guitar is a winner all the way…Chartbuster stuff…Amit Kumar sings another version of Dil Mein Baji Guitar. While it is good to hear from Amit Kumar once again but his singing is nothing great to talk about. I would prefer Mika’s version for its sheer masti and attitude.

Pritam is once again in the Pyaar Ke Side Effects mood in Paisa Paisa where it was all about club house sound. And I am glad to hear the talented Suzanne D Mello who smells of black-foster-pastry while belting out the English sections of the song. Hamza raps in the inimitable Apache Indian mould and Suzanne’s raping section is a treat. The music arrangements carry a faint middle-e
