What is it? 'English Vinglish', directed by Gauri Shinde who makes her directorial debut, marks the much awaited comeback of Sridevi after a 14 year sabbatical. A slice of life film, 'English Vinglish' explores the impact of not knowing the English language in everyday life. The film also features French actor Mehdi Nebbou, Adil Hussain and Priya Anand. Amitabh Bachchan will be making a guest appearance in the film. The film will be trilingual and has been shot in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. The film has Music by Amit Trivedi, lyrics by Swanand Kirkire, sound by Resul Pookutty, cinematography by Laxman Utekar and is edited by Hemanti Sarkar.
The Storyline 'English Vinglish' is a story of a woman's struggle with the English language and the insecurities she faces because of it. In the course of the story, she takes up tuition to impress her family and society, who had made fun of her English language. The film shot mostly in New York captures her transformational journey. The Arrival Co-produced by R.Balki, Sunil A Lulla and Rakesh Jhunjhunwala under the banner Eros International Media Ltd, 'English Vinglish' releases worldwide on 5th Oct. 2012. The film was premiered at Toronto International Film Festival on 14th Sept 2012, in the highly coveted Galas' section. | |||
