Megastar Mammootty has been instrumental in giving an exceptional opening to Lal Jose with his movie 'Oru Maravathoor Kanavu'. The director who was never ever forced to look back since this grand opening in 1993, did team up with Mammootty again for Pattalam (2003) and Puramkazhchakal for the portmanteau Kerala Café (2009).And now in 2013, the duo are coming up with the new film 'Immanuel' all about the life of a lower middle-class family.
The movie scripted by debutante writer A C Vijeesh revolves around the life of Immanuel(Played by Mammootty), an employee of a publishing house who hails from a neighbouring village and stays at Kochy. After passing his BA Malayalam in first class, Immanuel experimented with Chavittunatakam for some time, from where he found his wife Anne. He has few relatives and leads an ordinary, yet happy life with his wife, Anne, and only son Robin. Things go wrong when Kerala Publishing House, where Immanuel works, shuts down unexpectedly. The fourty plus Immanuel suddenly finds himself on the abyss of a financial breakdown as he doesn't know any other job and the troubles and harsh realities follow him soon. But how the middle-aged man sticks to integrity even at the face of adversities form the rest of the plot. Laljose, the director describes the movie as a soft, feel good one which propagates righteousness. The director is after a modest set to make the movie look more realistic. Debutante Reenu Mathew comes up as Anne, the wife of Immanuel. This is her second chance with the same team, as she was earlier considered for the role of heroine in 'Pattalam', which she couldn't take up those days because she was then selected to join as cabin crew of Emirates. Gowri Shankar comes up as Robin. Fahadh Faasil appear as Jeevan, a little negative role. Salim Kumar, Nedumudi Venu and Mukesh, are in the cast with Sukumari, Suja , Devan, Aparna Nair and Sunil Sugatha. Immanuel will have music and BG scores by Afsal Yousuf, the visually-challenged music director. Pradeep Nair cranks the camera while laljose's favourite Ranjan Abraham does the editing.
The film, produced by S. George under the banner of Syn cil Celluloid and distributed by Playhouse, is slated for release this April. |
