Gulaab Gang
IndiaGlitz  [Tuesday, March 04, 2014]

Produced By Anubhav Sinha, Presented and Co-Produced by Sahara Movie Studios and Bharat Shah, 'Gulaab Gang' is directed by Soumik Sen, who has also done Story, Screenplay, Music of the film. The film stars two icons of Indian Cinema starring together on the big screen for the very first time: Madhuri Dixit and Juhi Chawla.

Also starring Divya Jagdale, Priyanka Bose and Tannishtha Chatterjee among others, 'Gulaab Gang' is inspired by a group of women activists (Gulabi Gang) in the Bundelkhand region and is based on women empowerment.

This film will see Madhuri as a social activist fighting for women. This sure is a big surprise and treat for all the Madhuri fans as she will be seen after a gap of 7 years. And not only will the audiences get to see her acting in a movie after a long gap, but will also witness the promise of yet another powerful performance from her in a movie to release soon after!

Madhuri has sung a song in the film for the very first time in her career, and to add the icing to the cake, she is joined by her illustrious mother Snehlata Dixit in the song too! It is a kajri (folk song) titled "Rangi Sari Gulabi Chunariya" which starts in Madhuri's mother's voice and then Madhuri takes over from her.

Juhi, who's known for playing lovable and bubbly characters, will be seen in a never-seen-before avatar as she dons the role of a politician named 'Sumitra Devi', effortlessly.

While Sound Designed by noted Resul Pukootty, choreography is by dance guru Saroj Khan.

The Storyline

Somewhere in the Hindi heartland, an ashram of sorts has been set up by Rajjo (Madhuri Dixit) where women armed with axes and sickle and dressed in pink nine yards, mete out the evil and seek out justice for one and all, while making hand-ground spices, hand-woven baskets and hand-woven sarees. But when the party she was campaigning for reveals its true colors. Rajjo knows she has a whole new battle ahead of her. And a force of evil she hasn't encountered in the past - Sumitra Devi (Juhi Chawla). Whose money, bullet, connection driven juggernaut of politics is a threat she hasn't encountered before. Realizing the devil is soon enough going to swamp and silence and encompasses the work she has been striving for all these years, and bring her into a deadlier web of buyout, Rajjo has to battle this new unseen devil. At the ballot box. With something she has lived to learn all these years - The strength of soul. Song. And stick. This season the colour of justice is pink.

The Arrival

'Gulaab Gang' enters cinema halls on 7th March 2014.
