 For Monty, the hugely successful rock star in South Africa idolized by his countless fans, life takes a bizarre turn at a rehearsal session.
Played by Himesh Reshammiya, the celebrated musician during the practice starts to behave like a man who is possessed by some unseen forces.
He begins to play a particular tune and all of a sudden goes into a trance experiencing strange never before seen visions which show him a mansion, a temple, a very beautiful girl etc.
Exhausted, Monty collapses.
He gets curious about the weird hallucinations through which his mind travelled for a short time.
His investigation on the cause of coming of the images reveals that the mansion he saw actually belonged to a person named Ravi Verma whose life ended in a tragic accident.
Monty in due course of time also comes to know that in his previous life he was Ravi Varma who was married to a girl named Kamini.
There is another startling revelation in store for Monty which makes it quite clear that there is more to accomplish in his life than being just a famous musician.
 Long back at a party in South Africa he had met a ballet dancer named Tina.
With just one glance at her Monty experienced what it is to fall in love at the very first sight.
But nothing happened after that and Tina had returned back to India.
Monty finds that the very same girl who he wish to possess is the foster daughter of Kamini.
He also finds out that Kamini with the help of a man named Sir Juda had murdered Ravi Varma just because of her greed to get all his wealth.
After the murder, Kamini had totally ignored her husband's family.
Monty after fusing together all the hidden horrible truths decide to wreck Kamini's life.
In the end he accomplishes his goals, brings back Ravi Varma's mother and sister from their miserable life again into pleasant days and gets the girl of his dreams.
The original 'Karz' directed by Subhash Ghai was released in 1980 and is considered as a classic Bollywood film.
