Aloo Chaat - Deliciously cooked
IndiaGlitz  [Friday, March 20, 2009]

Very rarely, we do find blithely bounded entertainments on the screens. Appositely, ALOO CHAAT isn’t an elision for you feel it worth watching for each penny paid. KISS – Keep it short and simple. Perhaps, a ducky formula picked by Robby shores him on palmy grounds. With a duration of 110 minutes, the film get-goes with a simple tale blended with laugh riots. Of course, it isn’t as colossal as Robby’s previous piece ‘Mera Pehla Pehla Pyaar’, but a quite a commendable one.

What do you do when your entire family is against the bride of your choice? Do you replace your family? Or do you replace the bride? Or do you make an aloo-chaat of your life?

Aloo Chaat the film, is rich in masala - with plots within sub-plots, with wisecracks dripping endlessly like that tangy chutney, and is a treat that you don't want to miss.

It tickles you, shakes you, rattles you, and gags you as it takes you through the narrow lanes and equally narrow minds of orthodox Delhi parents, to a wider world of love and romance, and an unexpected twist in the tale...

ALOO CHAAT - it doesn’t go freakish from previous flicks based on similar diagrams. Amidst of auteurs brimmed with entangled plots and screenplays, Robby offers you a great relief. But again, that turns to be a diminishing factor. Yeah! Limited with clichéd patterns of dioramas of how protagonist deals with various situations don’t get us more entertained. Certainly, it’s something glimpsed over many times in yesteryear movies.

Nevertheless Robby and Divynidhi Sharma with mirthful dialogues makes you glide with delightful journey.  Furthermore, the musical score by quads Mehfuz, RDB, Vipin, and Xulfi offer splendid fiesta of musical score. Indeed, the most adept choreographies by Pony and Andy top-notches in all numbers. Especially, the song during final credits is brimmed with colorful looks. Kudos to RDB and choreographers… Sanjay Kapoor’s cinematography is yet another embellishment for the spectacular visuals.

Would it be a flattery to say the performance of every star is excellent? Certainly, but don’t find fault on actors. They’ve spelled most equitable show but everything goes despaired sans substantial treatment of script. After a long sabbatical gap, a dainty display by Aftab goes laudable. But Aamna struggles for finesse and let’s congratulate her for decent drives. On a higher grade, Kulbhushan, Manoj, Sanjay and everyone on title cards have resplendently carried through.

Well, don’t miss this ALOO CHAAT, although there’s something spicy missy…

Verdict: Simply Scrumptious…

Rating : ** ½
