Don Johnson's Nash Bridges award cut by $8 million

IndiaGlitz [Friday, October 05, 2012]

Johnson emerged triumphant from a longstanding legal battle with TV bosses at production company Rysher Entertainment, Inc. in 2010, after alleging he was owed revenue from the hit series - because he owned half of the cop drama's copyright.

A judge sided with him and awarded him $23.2 million (£14.5 million), and he won a further cash windfall later that year (10), when he was awarded another $28 million (£17.5 million) in interest.

Producers appealed the ruling and on Monday (01Oct12), panel members at the California 2nd District Court of Appeal voted in favour of upholding the decision.

However, officials declared Johnson was only entitled to $15 million (£9.38 million). Johnson is still entitled to claim interest on the figure at a rate of five per cent.

The Miami Vice star had previously asked for a $100 million (£62.5 million) settlement, claiming TV bosses earned more than $300 million (£200 million) in revenue and more than $150 million (£93.75 million) from syndication deals.
