Jimmy Savile accused of child abuse

IndiaGlitz [Friday, October 05, 2012]

The small screen veteran, who died last year (11), presented a number of children's shows including wish-granting programme Jim'll Fix It, and he is the focus of a controversial new expose titled Exposure: The Other Side Of Jimmy Savile.

The documentary features testimony from a number of women, who allege Savile groomed them for sex when they were youngsters.

Mark Williams-Thomas, who worked as a child protection officer with Surrey Police, spent a year talking to the alleged victims as part of the TV investigation and he claims two complaints about Savile were made to authorities before the star passed away.

He tells Britain's Mail on Sunday newspaper, ""Early last year I was asked by a contact if I was aware of allegations that had circulated for years about Savile and young girls and if I knew of an investigation into a complaint made to Surrey police in 2007.

""When Savile died, I began an investigation and was put in contact with several women who alleged they had been abused by him.""

The TV star died in October last year (11) at the age of 84. He was awarded an Order of the British Empire (OBE) medal by Queen Elizabeth II in 1971, and he received a knighthood in 1990 for his years of charity work.

Exposure: The Other Side Of Jimmy Savile airs in the U.K. on Wednesday (03Oct12).
