A daylong seminar on 'Cinema - Udhyama Madhyama' was inaugurated by Karnataka Home Minister KJ George and he urged the film makers to give up violent films with long sharp edge weapons. The impact on society should bring effective change for the good of the society felt KJ George in his address as a prelude to the 6th Bengaluru International Film Festival. It is unfair to make films that take youth to the wrong path. Government intention of giving subsidy, Entertainment Exemption to Kannada films is keeping such things in mind felt the Home Minister.

The renowned writer and film maker Prof Baraguru Ramachandrappa on this occasion keeping in mind 'Cinema=Udyama-Madhyama' coined the new word 'Kalodyama'.

Mr Ragi Hegde, group editor of Udayavani newspaper felt the best way of publicity is mouth to mouth publicity. There is a grave need of having unique publicity to attract the audience. There are many forms to it he felt. The realtors are ruling today and the concern of quality films is missing with such persons felt senior journalist Sadashiva Shenoy. He also felt the need of keeping up good theatre facility. 'Jatta' and 'Adwaitha' director BM Giriraj analyzed on cross over cinemas.

KVR Tagore former IPS officer, HD Gangaraju, Madhyama Academy chairman Ponnappa, Kannada and culture secretary Niranjan and others were present in the morning session. The absence of artists in an important seminar upset the organizers a scant respect was shown.
