Karnad To Inaugurate Dasara

The highly respected personality in the field of literature, cinema and television Dr Girish Karnad, Jnanapith Award winner has been invited to inaugurate this year Dasara Festivities in Mysore that is world famous. 10-day Mysore Dasara begin on September 25, 2014.

In the invitation extended to Dr Girish Karnad for inauguration of Dasara Festival there was opposition from local MP of Mysore Pratap Simha of BJP. The Karnataka chief minister S Siddaramaiah turned down the comment. Dr SL Byrappa name was suggested for this year inauguration. The CM nodded for Dr SL Byrappa inauguration in the next year. Dr Karnad feels it as an honor to inaugurates the Dasara Festival.

The Karnataka government is releasing Rs.12 crores for this year Dasara festival. From this year Dasara festival the passing away of Srikanta Datta Narasimharaja Wodeyar looks less colorful at the famous Mysore Palace as the customary practices has no alternative. Smt Pramoda Devi Wodeyar will provide golden howdah for the Dasara procession of Goddess Chamundeswari Devi.
