The Hamsalekha College of Performing Arts and Research Center is Rs.120 crores project on 50 acres land at Mudhigere village near Channapatna is starting the construction on November 1 this year. Hamsalekha is the only film music director in Indian cinema to arrive at such a novel thought of ‘Desi’ Univsersity. His college has already got the recognition from Dravidian Unviersity.

This is the new ‘Hamsalekha Avataar’ after 400 films as music director and lyricist with national crown once for Kannada film ‘Ganayogi Panchakshara Gavai’. Hamsalekha who breathes music and lives in Music is now giving the breath of music in Desi style. His ultimate goal is to precisely showcase the abundant folk culture and start a Desi University for dance, expression, song and imagination. The 60 members’ faculty has already done the syllabus. A huge stage to perform plays in the international standards is also one of the ideas in the mind of Hamsalekha. The huge project will be in a joint venture.

In the beginning Hamsalekha started a music school and he extended it up to PUC and now to post graduation level via Bachelor of Performing Arts. This is four years course and the fourth year is Honors degree.

In four years time the Hamsalekha College will be independent and engrossing too he says in a chat after the media briefing of his latest film ‘Premism’ at RASA restaurant in Malleswaram.
