 Tamil film directors have come out with a string of announcements aimed at giving a fillip to film industry and Tamil culture.
Speaking to reporters after a consultative meeting of the association in Chennai Sunday, Tamil Film Directors Association secretary R K Selvamani said awards would be given to Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada movies starting next year.
“Awards will be given in various categories, including best film, best actors-actresses and best technicians in all four south Indian languages. We have also decided to hold an annual cultural programme to raise funds to our association,” he said.
Stating that all filmmakers in south India would be requested to take part in the programme, Selvamani said the association had also decided to celebrate Tamil New Year day in a grand manner every year.
The consultative meeting was presided over by association president Bharathiraja. Office bearers including S A Chandrasekaran, Vikraman, Ameer and Madesh among others took part.
