Director and lyric writer Geethapriya alias Lakshman Rao Mohithe is affected with throat cancer. He is not able to properly converse with people today. Lakshman Rao Mohithe who became Geethapriya in 1968 and he has been part and parcel of the Kannada cinema industry since 1954.  He started writing a song for 'Sri Rama Pooja' in 1954.

As a director from 'Mannina Maga' from 1968 Geethapriya flourished. He used to write the spoken language in his films to get near to the audience. He has so far directed 30 films and won Puttanna Kanagal award that is given by State government for expertise in direction.

Geethapriya came to this tinsel town with poverty and after 50 years plus stint is in the same old poverty in his life. He has no financial support to take the stiff challenge in life - 'Cancer disease'.

Sriramanjaneya Yudda, Nagapooja, Ondhe Balliya Hoogalu, Bettada Huli, Hombisilu, Beluvaladha Madilalli, Besuge, Putani Agent 1 2 3, Pritisi Nodu are some of his well known films among 40 films direction. He has penned over 450 songs to various Kannada films. He was the principal of Vijaya Film Institute for a long time.
