Converse with Depeika Padukone and she is bound to share her excitement about 'Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani' at any given juncture.
So much so that her affection for the film as well as it's lead actor Ranbir Kapoor has started making one feel if she is playing favourites with the project now.
Says an insider, "What's wrong if that is indeed the case. 'Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani' is her big ticket film for many reasons, including the fact that it is a Karan Johar production. Moreover, she has to get it right with the youngsters.
After all her films with Ranbir Kapoor (Anjaana Anjaani), Imran Khan (Break Ke Baad) and Neil Nitin Mukesh (Lafangey Parindey) have done only average business while her outing with Abhishek Bachchan (Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey) was disastrous." Meanwhile Deepika is saying that it is the love story element of 'Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani' which is exciting her most.
However one can well understand that this also makes strong career sense. After all, even though she has tasted her biggest successes with Shahrukh Khan (Om Shanti Om), Saif Ali Khan (Cocktail, Love Aaj Kal) and Akshay Kumar (Housefull), she has to gain momentum with the younger ones too now. When contacted, Deepika denied playing favourites though.
"The film is special but that doesn't mean it is my favourite. I am working eqaualy hard on my other films as well", she says.
With Ramesh Taurani already talking quite highly about her for a scintillating act in 'Race 2' and Rajnikanth already through shooting with her for 'Kochadiyan', one does hope that is indeed the case.
Meanwhile, if 'Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani' works (and chances are that it will), Deepika would be pretty much enjoying the best of both worlds.
