GOVINDU APPEAL The right man makes the right appeal. That is Sa Ra Govindu a senior producer and in the Kannada cinema industry holding many positions. On Saturday night Sa Ra Govindu suggested to the Karnataka Government information department to immediately institute an award in the name of recently demised singer Dr PBS. Dr PBS contribution to Kannada cinema is unforgettable and he should be rightly remembered he said. The annual state film awards given by the Karnataka government has a category for 'Best Playback Singer'. From this year it should be named as Dr PBS award for singing stated Sa Ra Govindu. The appeal of the veteran is right because the government in the past when Dr Vishnuvardhana passed away instituted lifetime achievement in his name and when Dr KS Ashwath passed away the best supporting actor role was announced in his name. Prior to all these awards there is best actor award given in the name of first hero of Kannada cinema Subbai Naidu. The government has already instituted awards in the name of doyens like SR Puttanna Kanagal, Dr Rajakumar that carries Rs.2 lakh award money.
