The sad end came early on Thursday at 3.50 am and the magnificent singer Manna Dey was close to people of Bangalore as he lived in Kalyan Nagar, Bangalore East in his younger daughter residence. He was ill for a long time. The lung infection bothered him very much.

Manna Dey delivered songs in Kannada in the music direction of GK Venkatesh, M Ranga Rao and Bhonsle. In a film 'Kranti Veera Sangolli Rayanna' made in 1967 it was Bhonsle introduced Lathaji, Asha and Usha Bhonsle with Manna Dey who had already sung for 'Kalavathi' and Kalpavruksha'.
Apparently all the films Manna Dey took up for singing in Kannada started in "K" letter film titles. The songs Kuhu Kuhu Ennutha Haduthide...Jayathe Jayathe Sathya Meva Jayathi and Jagavidu Sojiga...are his popular renderings in Kannada.
