Off late you have been too workaholic. What is the reason?
I treat every film I sign as my own film even though I am just an actor. I do not want anyone who comes to me to do a film suffer. It is my duty to bail out them from problems.
You had been to Censor Board recently to place your arguments?
That's true. I went on behalf of my producer Bala Muthaiah of 'Nammanna'. I picked up a very logical argument. But I could not get the answer from the censor.
What is your contention?
The rule that censor makes should be uniform. What is objected in Kannada cinema is found in other language films. Like how the constitution of India is applicable to the whole of Republic of India similar is the case of censor guidelines. We are not asking anything else. Suppose in Japan if there is left hand driving I can't ask a vehicle of right hand driving. A kissing scene is cut here is found in other language films. There are several instances like this found in other languages not in Kannada.
Was there any answer from them?
There was no answer. What I expected from them I did not get. They told me not to compare with other films. I appreciate their view that films should be made for family viewing. In our society we believe professions like lawyers, doctors and engineers should not commit any mistakes. In the same place the censor board is also there.
Why can't the Kannada film producers know the taste of Censor and make films?
Then we have to get the central government aid for making films.
You had censor problems for your earlier films?
For 'Kichcha' I had thought of violence in the climax. But I gave the speech in the climax. That was not taken by the audience. The people also know what they want. They never entertain obscene films. If the film is bad they reject it outright.
Do they object for the posters also?
They are not worried about the title. They have reservations to the posters. In 'Shastri' Kannada film the hero wearing sacred thread is holding a sharp edge weapon. There was no objection to it. The same censor raised objection to the title 'Porkhi'.
What is the position of your maiden directorial venture My Autograph?
70 days of shooting has been completed in places like Agumbe, Madikeri, Alleppy and other surroundings. Patience and Responsibility is very important is what I have felt. The position in the industry is based on how much a hero film earns. But I am doing this film from the heart.
What is your expectation from the film 'My Autograph'?
Like what I expected from our Sarovar Productions 'Sparsha' and 'Swathi Muthu' I am expecting the same from Kichcha Creations 'My Autograph'. I want the people to see the film. I have no interest in earning crores of rupees. From a new comer Sanjay to very senior actor Srinivasamurthy the artistes have done well.
It seems your father has also done a role in this film?
My father Mr Sanjeev appears in a small role. He looks elegant on the screen. In the school and college days he had won awards for his stage performances. In fact he has more awards than what I have brought home.
You are hat trick film fare award winner..
Even for that people said I have done lobbying. It is not like that. It is presentation of our work in the right way. For the good work I have the rewards whether it is Huchcha, Sparsha, Kichcha, Swathi Muthu or any film for that matter.
