    High on comedy

    Thursday, December 15, 2005
Actress Daisy Bopanna may have had a not so happening start, but she is now rocking with hits not just in the Kannada film industry but in Bollywood as well...

Your recent film Rama Shama Bhama seems to be doing pretty well. What do you feel about the film?

Rama Shama Bhama is a comedy film and any comedy done well is sure to go down well with the audiences. It is a fun film and features talented actors like Kamal Hassan, Ramesh, Urvashi and Shruti. Personally, I am very happy to have been a part of this film. Compared to them, I am still just starting off, and working in this film was more of a challenge and has proved to be a valuable learning experience.

This is your second hit this year, the first one being the Hindi film Garam Masala. And incidentally, both have been comedy films. Is that your forte?

It is just a coincidence that both have been comedy films. And I have had a lot of fun working in both of them. I have done a variety of roles before, and since I have enjoyed portraying all sorts of roles I hope I don't get stuck to playing just a certain kind of role just because these two films have done well.

What was your experience working with actors like Akshay Kumar and John Abraham?

With Akshay Kumar, I shared a very professional relationship. We discussed work all the time -- what dialogues we could improvise on, or which angle would suit the scene best. With John, he became a very good friend. We are both sagittarians and therefore got along very well.

Would you be working in more Kannada films or will you try to do more Bollywood films?

I have been getting offers from both the industries. My plan is to take up roles very carefully. I do not want to stop acting in Kannada films as I am basically from Bangalore. Bollywood films will happen too, but one needs to be extra careful while choosing roles there. Getting a break is one step up the ladder, but the real struggle begins when you are looking for your second film. That is what will really make or break an actor.

    What are your current projects?

In the Kannada film industry, I am now working on Tavarina Siri in which I am paired opposite Shivarajkumar. I play a nice bubbly girl in the film. In the Hindi film industry, talks are on but I do not want to say anything until I have something confirmed.
