I am tempted towards remake

Utopian Upendra who is in the avatar of Goonda doctor in ''''Uppi Daada MBBS'''' that was released on last Friday all over Karnataka feels that he is tempted to take up some remakes because they are good subjects.

Here is a chat with highly talented technician cum actor Upendra.

On what grounds you liked the remake of Uppi Daada MBBS?

Sanjay Dutt 'Munna Bhai�..is a perfect screenplay film. As a matter of fact I have not seen the two other versions of Chiranjeevi and Kamal Hassan in Telugu and Tamil respectively.

You suggested any changes when it is remade to Kannada?

That was not required I thought. When top films are taken up for remakes it should not be changed. Otherwise we should not take up. I have added only one statement that instead of loving people the people are loving things in the film.

With great degree of skill and ability to give subject why are you hanging around remake films?

It is temptations towards good subjects. The producers come and ask me to do. In the beginning days I was thinking why should I do remakes. When I took up 'A', 'Upendra' and worked hard on H20 - I was directing and acting in films. When I was told that I spend a lot on the film 'H20' (starring me, Prabhudeva and Priyanka) I thought I should change my stand. I quietly acted in films not taking up direction. 'Gokarna' is my only home production.

Then what happened?

My aspirations received a brickbat in the past. When we want to bring our subjects independently I thought of doing outside banners to collect funds and do a project of my own.

You have been telling since last two years that you are announcing new film from your banner?

I am getting ready the subject. After my two commitments I would take up my own subject. I would produce, direct and act in that film. That is by the end of this year.

Moving on to next?

I have cut my hair very short for director Indrajith Lankesh film that is yet to get a title. The hair is prepared specially with colors for the subject. My fans are not thronging. They find me as a different man and keep away. In my recent visit to Bidar Akila Karnatka Sahitya Sammelana the fans recognised me and demanded the 'Raktha Kanneeru' dialogues.

Who are the co stars for you in Indrajith Lankesh film?

Deepika Padukone and Daisy Boppanna. N.Kumar is producing this film. Most part of the film will be shot in Europe.

After this film��

I have a project for producer Munirathna that is a remake of Tamil film 'Pitamagan'. Munirathna producer of Raktha Kanneeru lost a few lakhs when Kalki was annnounced and shelved in the middle.
