    Raghav raring to go!

    [Interview by IndiaGlitz]
    Wednesday, November 04, 2009
Rejecting quite a number of offers for weak script and looking for thought provoking director to work at the beginning of the career shows the grit and determination of this software developer in Yahoo group Raghav Pavaman K.

A theatre actor not ready to accept television field Raghav is a senior Engineering manager in Yahoo. He is an international qualified fitness trainer Raghav wants to take up the cinema profession seriously. That is the reason I have rejected offers for lack of strength says Raghav in a chat with this correspondent.

Here are the excerpts of an interview:

Why do you want to reject offers coming in your way?

Even one minute presence should be striking. In the theatre plays I have enough of experience and my qualification, thoughts do not permit me for all tom dick and Harry films.

Mention about your stage plays. You get instantaneous response from the audience. Is it helpful?

I have thoroughly enjoyed Stage Plays. It is the platform to know the actual ability. One has to be creative, confident learn how to coordinate and above all concentration and communication comes to an actor. Some of the great plays which I was a part of were ‘Fences’, ‘Report the News and Born Yesterday’ etc.

Audience are quiet responsive and commend your performance in case you are good. It helps in over come the shortfalls.

How was your childhood, school and college, you were in to cultural activities? Won any prizes?

I was very active and was a front runner when it came to sports & cultural activities. I have represented Karnataka State in Volley ball and Badminton. I used to take part in debates and dramas during schooling. Later on I have participated in dance performances and fashion shows for the college fest. I have won many prizes and accolades which I still cherish. These activities helped me to ward off the stage fear during school and college days.

Have you got offers from film industry or television industry so far?

During my acting workshop at Abhinaya Taranga I developed very good contacts with the film industry biggies. I have been meeting directors and producers to learn more about their projects. I see a lot of offers up for grabs for good talents, but I am looking for a solid subject that has the punch for a good launch.

You are looking for definite kind of roles?

I don't want to confine to any particular image. As an actor, I want to do different kind of roles that are equally challenging (Be it Intense, Action oriented, Romantic, Comedy etc). Moreover, these days’ audiences are anticipating fresh ideas & fresh stories from the ever-growing entertainment industry. I am looking forward to working with thought provoking directors.

What did you learn from FRAME film and television workshop? How was your interaction with the artists and technicians who came to teach the students of FRAME?

I found FRAME workshop more valuable than years of theoretical study for filmmakers and actors. The Program allowed students to achieve more in less time. It was an extraordinary learning experience and a beautiful collaboration amongst young filmmakers & actors. I personally became enthralled with all aspects of acting and filmmaking, from sound to camera to editing to dubbing. We had the industry veterans, leading stars & technicians conduct classes and teach us the sensitive part of film making. Each class was quite interactive and we had absolute freedom to explore ourselves.

    Have you trained important personalities?

Along with being a fitness buff, I have trained several eminent personalities from the political field and entertainment industry and helped them get a healthy and a fit body. My International Fitness Training certification has motivated me to take fitness to the next creative level. My long term plan is to build a Wellness Company that would cater to the corporate needs & devise training programs for individuals that would aptly plug into their lifestyle and personality.

Coming to acting profession is it not going to be a hindrance to your comfortable position already you have carved?

I have a well thought out plan or rather a formula to strike the right balance. I work for a great Company (YAHOO) with Lovely people who understand and respect my interest. With this, I do not see any hindrance coming in the way.
