 The senior actress Pramila Joshai is pinning hopes on winning a national award from this off beat Kannada film 'Thaayi'. This is based on world famous Russian writer Maximgarki's novel. The reputed literary personality Dr. Baraguru Ramchandrappa has penned the screenplay, dialogues and also directs this film. He has made necessary changes to the present environment of film making.
The subject has a revolutionary background. The uneducated women without her knowledge succumb to the emotional aspects. The son of protagonist 'Thaayi' rebel against the system and is sentenced for imprisonment. In a pathetic condition 'Thaayi' – the mother struggles hard for the release her son. She also fights against the system and becomes mother of all fighting for the truth.
Director Dr.Baraguru Ramachandrappa with many off beat films to his credit in the past has brought changes to set the film to Indian standards. On the occasion of the novel of Maxim Garki completing 100 years a film is made in Kannada based on his novel. This novel has been translated in 127 languages all over the world.
'Thaayi' shooting has been held in Chitradurga and Bangalore surroundings. Pramila Joshai is the producer of this Meghana Creations.
Kumar Govind, Srinivasamurthy, Sunderraj, Abhinaya, Karibasavaiah, Krishne Gowda, Srinivasa Prabhu, Sunderraj Urs, Nandini, Mico Manju, Shanker, Vatsala Mohan, Sanjay Yadav are also in the cast.
Nagaraj Adhavani is the cinematographer. Suresh Urs has edited the film. Hamsalekha has scored the music.
