 The combination of two high power names – Dr. Vishnuvardhana and director T.S. Nagabharana after 28 years (Bangaradha Jhinke was last one) has done a magic again on silver screen but it is inevitable to avoid thinking that the film ‘Nam Yajamanru’ has the shades of ‘Apatha Mithra’ (made as Chandramukhi in Tamil starring Rajianikanth by director P Vasu that reaped excellent results in box office like the Kannada film).
The DID – in medical terminology Disassociate Identity Disorder that is prevalent in a miniscule percentage in India and found in English speaking countries is dramatized to render more excitement and thrills for the audience in ‘Nam Yajamanru’. The two memories striking in one person at one point of time in life is the quintessential aspect handled in this film.
Shashank (Dr. Vishnuvardhana) running Janumadha Jodi marriage bureau is highly respected personality in the society. He has an important guest in his house Charu (Navya Nair) who considers herself as Urmila and eagerly awaits the acceptance of wife position. Shashank has seen Charu from childhood who has almost grown like his daughter. The wife of Shashank that is Urmila (Lakshmi Gopalaswamy) died in an accident when the bus in which Shashank, Charu and others were crossing in Munar Ghat section falls.
 Charu after this accident says that she is Urmila for that Shashank is totally baffled. He keeps her in his house on the advice of psychiatrists. Meanwhile Alok (Vijaya Raghavendra) the lover of Charu arrives to fetch her. Charu doesn’t recognize Alok which leads to suspicion in his mind. He doubts the credibility of Shashank and not ready to know the past from him. The insurance agent Poovaiah (Ananthnag) comes to the scene as he wants to investigate the accident to settle the insurance claim of Rs.50 lakhs for Urmila’s death. The insurance agent Poovaiah is explained the flash back when he also doubts the sincerity of Shashank. Thus the bus tragedy leads to all clues. Yet Charu claims that she is Urmila (the dead Lakshmi Gopalaswamy). The specialist in the medicine considers this double memory as Disassociate Identity Disorder. The team of doctors finally arrives at a conclusion that one of the two memories (of Charu and Urmila) could be erased in a risky operation. They cannot guarantee which memory will be in tact. By the grace of god and the need of box office collections, Charu retains her original memory and things go in right order.
Dr. Vishnuvardhana has given spectacular performance again after ‘Aptha Mithra’. He has that cool and composed nature. Just from his facial expressions and movement of eyes he does wonders on screen. He has two action scenes in this film that are very well handled.
The next best in ‘Nam Yajamanru’ is Navya Nair. This is the actress who can place herself in the national level for her brilliant performance. This is a difficult role Navya Nair has made it very easy. Had she dubbed her voice she would have been a contestant for the prestigious awards. Lakshmi Gopalaswamy has a lively presence on screen and she is a beautiful actress to watch. Vijaya Raghavendra after ‘Kallarali Hoovagi’, ‘Mathe Bandha Ganesha’ and ‘Naanu Neenu Jodi’ gives a splendid performance. Ananthnag is in his usual best. Sharat Babu as psychiatrist is apt.
There are two melodious tunes – Gundu Bhoomige Sutho Kushi….and Ninne Rathri Neeli Gaganadhi Chukki….Ramesh Babu’s cinematography is another boon to the film.
This is worth a dekko!
