Manju Swaraj in his debut direction has shown that he has come here to stay as a good craftsman. The package he has given with initial discussion on 'Ghost and God' predominance in the society that later switch over to a gripping tale is intelligently handled. The scaring elements as claimed by the director are not so punching. Yet interesting part of 'Shishira' is the special effects of audio and video.
A group of friends have divided opinion on the existence of God and Ghost. Sooraj (Yashas) strongly believes it is all hallucination and weak brains leading to such conclusions around us. One of his friends Athai (Athaib) makes him to accept the challenge to live in the dilapidated building for 12 hours. It is at this place Yashas undergo the hallucination after he goes through the photo album. With this the audience experiences some startling developments. Finally Yashas finds he has a real tormentor in the turn of events that is another suspense part of the film.
Yashas after the debacle 'Yuga Yugagale Sagali' has a very good role that showcases his talent. He has tremendous power to emote and in some of the situation the mono acting he does gives room for his caliber. Meghana Mudiyan has nothing much to do as heroine. Yesteryears Prema in her come has lost charm and not support the film.
Technically this is a good film to watch. Cinematography by Suresh Babu is admirable. In one location using the pitch darkness and making use of the lighting Babu gives good effects. Ajanish Lokanath in his debut shows how good he is in melody. Two of his songs are above average.
This is a passable film from a newcomer Manju Swaraj!
Scoring 7/10
