Dhandam Dashagunam - Needed revision

IndiaGlitz  [Saturday, April 16, 2011]

This remake of Tamil film 'Khaka Khaka' coming to Kannada after eight years (original starring Surya and Jyothika was released in 2003) needed an absolute revision in the screenplay to suit the present scenario.

For the film fans especially, they have seen cop verses villain films in higher strength and grandeur over the years. Making the film 'Khaka Khaka' in the copy book style is not a good proposition. This is what director K Madesh should have looked at first.

Except the stunning and chilling performance from Ravishanker the other stars including Ramya a profound actress does not remain in the mind. It is high time Chiranjeevi Sarja deliver his dialogue for his roles in a convincing style appear from his next film.

ACP Surya (Chiranjeevi Sarja) a stubborn officer takes on the disgruntled elements in a breezy style. One of the encounters he makes is a big name in the underworld Gazar Khan. The brother of Gazar Khan -Thamate Shiva (Ravishanker) takes on the task of giving back ACP Surya with a strong reply. In the meantime Maaya a school teacher is truly, madly and deeply in love with Surya.

On the first night of Surya and Maaya the rabble rouser Thamate Shiva makes an attack and take away Maaya. Thamate Shivu is under the impression that Surya is dead. But he is wrong. Surya gets up from bad situation in life and finishes off the battle.

Chiranjeevi Saraja dubbing by Naveen Krishna has not worked out well. Chiranjeevi Sarja has given a miserable performance. He does not even look very tough as ACP Surya. There is no scope for Ramya to express her talent. She is as usual good in songs and dance. That is the only mesmerizing effect from Ramya.

Ravishanker steals the show and this is his third in a row. He was very good in 'Kote' too good in 'Kempe Gowda' and brilliant in 'Dandam Dashagunam'.

V Harikrishna has been convincing in two songs. The cinematography is less than average. Technically the film falls behind. The editing, lighting and dubbing are in poor standards.

Score 5/10
