Varadanayaka - Commercial Flick

IndiaGlitz  [Friday, January 25, 2013]

This week 'Varadanayaka' for Kannada audience is with six years old subject that was made as 'Lakshyam' in Telugu in 2007, then as 'Manjaa Velu' in Tamil, in Bengali as 'Tiger' and then dubbed in Hindi language too as 'Bhai  -The Lion'.

What's special from this 'Varadanayaka' - it is 'Dhandam Dashagunam' - this is also the earlier film title of Chiranjeevi Sarja. Elder brother 'Varadanayaka' cannot do as a cop the younger one does for which police support.

Gutsy and straightforward cop Varadanayaka married to Lakshmi (Sameera Reddy) living with a child (not belonging to couple - a child is born to Varadanayaka wife Lakshmi almost when is put down), parents and brother Hari (Chiranjeevi Sarja) is a night mare to trouble shooter Section Shanker (Ravishanker). Section Shanker is an expert in committing crime and not leaving any clue. Varadanayaka in the pretext of kidnapping Sirisha (Nikesha Patel) fiancé of Hari barges in a big way in the den of Section Shanker. It was a ruthless hit back from Varadanayaka shakes the empire of Section Shanker.

It is paying back from Section Shanker with his brother (Karthik) who is pretending as good friend of Varadanayaka and calling him as 'Anna'.

In a big bloody fight in the darkness in a mortuary Varadanayaka is killed. His body is thrown in fire lit bus. Hari looking at this closely does the final rites of his brother Varadanayaka. It is fierce give back from Hari now. The police department is not aware what happened to Varadanayaka. They believe he is alive. Again for Section Shanker how Varadanayaka is alive is a question mark. When Hari demolishes entire team of bad elements he declares the fact that Varadanayaka is no more.

For Sudeep fans this is another supper after 'Sankranthi Festival'. Sudeep looks perfect in his cop uniform and he with Ravishanker have a takeoff from 'Kempe Gowda'. Sameera Reddy has no chance to showcase her talent. There is only one good graphic laced song with Sudeep for her.

Chiranjeevi Sarja is not having a different role from his previous flop films. Nikesha Patel is heroine with daring approach. Sharan, Bullet Prakash, Shobaraj are quite OK. It is monotonous for Ravishanker.

Arjun Janya has given one good song that is 'baitle Baitle hum chaar baath Karlenge.... Rakesh has made a good effort for this 'Varadanayaka' in his camera. There was scope for editing some of the scenes.

On the whole it is action more than reaction!

Score - 6/10
