Nostalgic Yesudas song rules Malayalam charts
IndiaGlitz [Thursday, May 05, 2005]

The three Vishu releases have a coincidence: Vidyasagar has scored the music and Gireesh Puthenchery written the lyrics for all the three. But only songs from "Chandrolsavam" have made a real dent on the charts.

The following are the top five Malayalam songs of the week:

1."Muttathethum". Film: "Chandrolsavam". Music: Vidyasagar. Lyrics: Gireesh Puthenchery. Singer: K.J. Yesudas. A lilting nostalgic song in the voice of Yesudas tops the charts this time around.

2."Nerinazhaku". Film: "Thommanum Makkalum". Music: Alex Paul. Lyrics:Kaithapram. Singers: P. Jayachandran and Mano. This song, picturised on Mammootty, Lal and Rajan P. Dev riding a truck in the countryside, has listeners swaying.

3."Aararum". Film: "Chandrolsavam". Music: Vidyasagar. Lyrics: Gireesh Puthenchery. Singer: Jayachandran. Jayachandran's voice is very apt for Mohanlal. And director Ranjith's flourish gives the song that something extra.

4."Karale Karalinte". Film: "Udayananu Tharam". Music: Deepak Dev. Lyrics: Kaithapram. Singers: Vineeth Sreenivas and Remi Tomy. This could be for the first time in the history of cinema that a son has rendered his voice for the father. Vineeth Sreenivas is the son of actor-writer Sreenivasan on whom the song is picturised.

5."Kukku Kukku". Film: "Alice in Wonderland". Music: Vidyasagar. Lyrics:

Gireesh Puthenchery. Singer: Prathap Chandran. This film was shot in verdant Ooty. Director Sibi Malayil has used the locales beautifully to enhance the music.
