Bharanikkavu Sivakumar passes away

Well-known Malayalam lyricist Bharanikkavu Sivakumar passed away at a private hospital in the capital city on Wednesday morning.

Sivakumar (58) was rushed to the hospital after he suffered a sudden cardiac arrest where he breathed last at 8.30 a.m. Sivakumar, the grandson of Mahakavi  Azhakathu Padmanabha Kurup, had penned more than 500 Malayalam songs in a career span of more than a thirty years.

Bharanikkavu was the recipent of many awards for his popular film songs including one state award for Swapnam Kaanum from Kaamam, krodham, Moham. He was  working as the director of Thejas film academy in Thiruvananthapuram for the past few years.
