Shahrukh Khan's latest offering for Deepavali ‘Om Shanthi Om' has broken all the existing records for Bollywood films in terms of first week collections.
The film has grossed around 18 crores from India in 7 days run, while creating new collection records in many centres. The film has amassed another 16 crores from the overseas in its first six day run.
The film which was released with biggest hype and around 2000 prints lived up to its expectations and is acknowledged as the biggest hit of Shahrukh in his 15 year old career. The film has made seven crores from Mumbai, itself.
A section of the industry, which went on with the mixed responses, was of the opinion that ‘Om Shanti Om’ might collapse after the big initials. But even after Monday the film is continuing with its glorious ride with 70 to 85 percent collections in single screens as well as multiplexes.
While it amassed around 12 lakhs from Thiruvanathapuram city itself, where it was released in two big screens, the known Hindi centres in South like Bangalore offered 22 lakhs as its first week pull.
