 What a way for a come back? No one could have thought a few years back that Old regular of the eighties in villainish roles, T G Ravi can make a comeback in such character roles that looks very different from the ones that he had been with earlier.
He was excellent in his comeback in films from Amrutham to the latest ‘Paradesy’. And now the state government has also approved the actor’s efforts in indulging in quality stuffs and roles. The State Awards jury, headed by Jahnu Barua, made a special mention of the acting of T.G. Ravi in the films ‘Adayalangal’ and ‘Ottakkaiyyan’, while announcing the awards yesterday.
The veteran actor who appeared in cinema in the films of the late seventies came up with memorable roles in films like ‘Paavom Krooran’, ‘Ahimsa’, ‘Eenade’ and ‘Eniyengilum’. Thereafter he was typecast in villainous roles for a decade, which made him rated as the best villain in the Mollywood circuit.
The actor took a self imposed gap from movies in the late eighties, when he was at the peak of his career. T G Ravi made a comeback to films in the early years of 2000 with carefully selected roles that suited his age and maneuvers. Just pass through his films on his comeback—‘Amrutham’, ‘Ottkkaiyyan’, ‘Aadayalangal’, ‘Nagaram’, ‘Paradesy’- all were noted for the well etched out characters that the actor had.
