Former ace footballer of Indian national team, I M Vijayan had been with films for the last half a decade. When a few documentaries like 'Kaala Hiran' were made on him, he himself appeared in few lead roles in films like 'Shantham' and ‘Aakashathile Paravakal'.

When Jayaraj invited him to do the lead in ‘Shantham' very few could have thought about the potential of the actor material in him. Vijayan made his debut memorable playing a pusillanimous youth, who was fleeing into dark after killing his friend on a political show down. After the remarkable success of the movie critically and commercially, Vijayan again displayed his talents in films like 'Aakashathile Paravakal’, Quotation and Tamil movie 'Thimiru', opposite Vishal.

After a gap of few years, Vijayan is again coming back to celluloid in another important role for his mentor Jayaraj’s new movie 'Gulmohar'. The movie will have him as an aadivasi youth from Wayanad.

“'I am still getting some new offers from Tamil. But since I am still working with football, I have denied doing some roles which had nothing much to offer”, says Vijayan
