In the elections to MACTA that is announced to take place by the 6th and, 7th of September, 30 prominent members of the associations are contesting on two different panels, headed by directors Vinayan and Siddhique. Of the 19 unions under MACTA, the real fight is on in the directors union, art directors union, writers union and camera union where prominent personalities are appearing in two different panels.

Veteran director Mohan, Baiju Kottarakkara and Thulasidas from Vinayan panel will take on the popular directors Siddhique, Sibi Malayil and G S Vijayan. In the writers union Biju Vattappara, Aleppey Ashraf and Reji Mathew contests from Vinayan group while B Unnikrishnan, Udhaykrishanan and Dennis Joseph are nominees from Siddhique group. For the posts in the cameraman's union Azhagappan and P Sukumar are the contestants from Siddhique group while K P Nambiyathiri and Vipindas are the opposite candidates.

Meanwhile reports say that memberships of many, who got into the list via back doors, are expected to get cancelled in the scrutiny that is to be held prior elections. The voters list which will be published by the 30th of this month, will give a final say on who all will have their names in the list, intact.
