The faction in MACTA which owes allegiance to the erstwhile general secretary, director Vinayan, has decided to boycott the elections to the MACTA, which is planned to take place next week.
Representing the faction, directors Mohan and Baiju Kottarakkara said they are boycotting the elections to the directors and writers' union of MACTA, following the illegal attempts of the other faction headed by director Siddhique to take over the federation.
The decision to collect a deposit of Rs. 25,000 for granting voting rights for members is seen as a move by the rival faction to take control of the organization who was trying to seek the support of the leadership of the All India Film Employees' Confederation and the Film Employees' Federation of South India.
Meanwhile, the ad-hoc committee of the MACTA will hold the elections to the 12 unions on September 6 and 7 at Sacred Heart High School, Thevara.
