The final pyre of ace screenplay writer and film director AK. Lohithadas was lit by his eldest son Harikrishnan, leaving immortal memories to his fan and film followers. The cremation with State honours was at his house, ‘Amaravathy,’ on the banks of the Bharathapuzha in Lakkidi-Perur, Ottappalam, yesterday. Deputy Speaker Jose Baby, Mammootty, Sreenivasan, Dileep, Manju Warrier, Meera Jasmine, B. Unnikrishnan, Kaithapuram, Kamal, Sibi Malayil, Shaji Kailash, Vinu Mohan, Lal and Siddhique were among those present at the funeral.

Thousands of people from all walks of life stood in queues for long hours, even in rain to bid final farewell and pay last respects to a scriptwriter-filmmaker who realised the chemistry of filmmaking, in its fullest sense. A condolence meeting was also held, later at Lakkidi town, which was addressed by Mammootty, Sreenivasan and B. Unnikrishnan.
