The Vice President of India Mr Hamid Ansari speech on 3rd evening at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi after presenting the 59th National award is a big boon for those who are opting for the dubbing in Karnataka.
The dubbing and subtitle films have decreased from 213 to 137 in the last one decade. To enhance the market for the Indian regional films the dubbing and subtitle films should be encouraged stated the Vice President of India Hamid Ansari.
Such statement from honorary vice president of India is a major boost for those who favor dubbing in Karnataka. There is a movement already in Karnataka since 1960 against dubbing and it is a cultural policy of the state.
The surprise is for anti dubbing movement bigwigs in Karnataka as the statement of Vice President of India is not wrong constitutionally.
Quite a few Kannada films in the past were identified as dubbed films and not allowed screening, Sri Ramayana of Sri Ramanand Sagara, Sanjay Khan Sword of Tippu Sultan and other television programs were not allowed to be dubbed in Kannada. When such a strong movement on dubbing is prevalent in Kannada the chances of getting further courage to pro dubbing team.
