A moment of pride; a moment of ecstasy; a moment of cheer... That's what every Indian felt when they saw Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan held the prestigious Olympic torch in his hand...

On Thursday, the veteran superstar carried the torch through Southwark in south London, much to the excitement of the onlookers, especially for the Indians there and movie buffs.

There was loud cheers when Big B passed by holding the torch, wearing a white tracksuit which had 063 printed on it.

"It is not a flame you hold, it is the pride of 1.25 billion people of India," saying thus, the superstar aptly summarised how he felt at the moment.

The 69-yr old celebrity was invited for the event by London Games Chairman Sebastian Coe.

Recalling the proud moment, Big B wrote in his micro-blogging site about the exciting "indescribable" experience.

Tweeted the megastar, "Faced many situations where enormity of crowd and its response was unbelievable.

But today with Olympic torch it was indescribable."

Amitabh Bachchan later in his blog wrote that this has been an incredible honour, humbling and so full of pride and emotion.

"A moment to be hopefully remembered by the grandchildren," added the iconic actor, who was among the 173 torchbearers on Thursday.

The opening ceremony will unfold on a grand scale at the Olympic Stadium on Friday.
