Vrindavanam - Raising hopes
IndiaGlitz  [Thursday, March 16, 2006]

Malayalam film music industry is facing much problems as the Tamil and Hindi numbers are ruling the charts of approval. The 'Desi' rewamp songs and those born out of 'inspirations' don't cater to audience who look for something fresh in Malayalam. Music companies are encouraging new music directors to give their souls to create some potential hits.

And the results were soon to gather. Here in the music of 'Vrindavanam', we see some real musical values in a doctor turned music director, also a debutant - Dr C.V. Renjith. His first work shows a vibrant mix of melody and mass appeal. The album with five songs is penned by Gireesh Puthenchery and is sung by prominent singers evenly supported by new comers like Arun, Aiswarya and DR. Renjith himself.

Even without any formal education in music Renjith has managed to create  the first song in the album, "Ambe Jaya Mookambike"... to such a glory that the audience really feel the charm of Raveendran's splendour in its tunes and Orchestration. Excellently rendered by Madhu Balakrishnan and Renjini Jose as seperate solos, the song provides both the singers, especially Renjini Jose, to prove their mettle with right tonal implications.

Ramsaan Nilaavu, sung by Manjari is also a feel good song rendered with grace. The same song is also presented as a duet with Afsal. Kasar kasr, sung by M.G. Sreekumar is a fast paced song in  moods of tamil numbers. The music director has also made his debut into singing film songs with 'Vasantha Maasam' another soft melody. His voice suits the slow percussion support and the moods of the song eventhough he will have to take a little care on his pronunciations.

The other song in the album is Attikurukkiyum, rendered by Aiswarya and Arun, which is just passable.

Overall, the album is worth for money, and also gives the indication that Renjith is here to stay.
