City Of God Preview

After a short gap from their previous films like 'Classmates', 'Nammal Thammil', Police and Oruvan, the young superstar Prithviraj and his elder brother Indrajith are coming together once again in new movie titled as 'City of God'. The movie which is much expected to become a refreshing endeavour, tells the lives of a few strangers in a city, which becomes intertwined as never before. Directed by Lijo Jose Pellissery after his much acclaimed debut in the Indrajith starrer 'Nayakan', the movie has the scripts by Babu Janardhanan.

'City of God' is presented in a non-linear narrative style, telling different interlinked  incidents in the lives of Tamil workers in the state, real estate mafia and business groups,  that happens at the same time. The movie shot with a hand held camera by Sujith Vasudev, will have a realistic feel running all along. Prithviraj will be in the role of Jyothilal, an educated man which takes to criminal activities for a living. Indrajith is a Tamil labourer, Swarnavel, who is in love with Marathakam, a Tamil woman who flees her village to escape from her ever disturbing married life and husband.

A wily business man in the city, Sony Vadayattil, catches fancy of Jyothilal who effortlessly lives his criminal life, and within months he starts sponsoring him and using him for his nefarious activities.But soon, Jyothilal is forced to take care of three strange women including Marathakam, who enters his life accidentally. The other two women whose stories also unfolds amidst the proceedings are Viji Punnose a wealthy woman, who witnesses the murder of her husband and Sooryaprabha, an actor who is carrying the baggage of some relationships that have gone bad.

While Pravathy of flash appears as Marathakam, Shwetha Menon plays Viji Ponnose and Reema Kallingal dons the role of Sooryaprabha. Rohini, Krishnakumar, Rajeev, Rajesh Hebbar and Sudhir Karamana also play some of the other characters in the film. The movie will also have Jagadheesh playing a crucial police character named  Pavamani, while Fahad Fazil appear in a pivotal role.

Packaged in a way, perhaps never seen before in Malayalam, the movie will have a close styles as the recent Tamil films. The movie will have music by Prashanth Pillai while Manoj does the editing. Pradeep Rengan and Aji handles the makeup while Saloo k George leads the art department.

'City of God' being produced by Anitha Anil Mathew under the banner of Mary Matha Creations was mostly shot in Kochi. The movie entering in final preparations for release will get to theatres this March.
