The immediate release of Kalabhavan Mani to try its fate at box office is 'Kali'. The film directed by Anil of Anilbabu fame is produced by Mohammed Ibrahim in the banner of Moonlight Creations. The film which has completed its shooting at  Palghat and Coimbatore in a single schedule is waiting for sensors.

The film presents Kalabhavan Mani in the character of a doctor for the first time in his career. Dr. Rajagopal (Kalabhavan Mani), the son of a poor layman Gopalan, has to bear great difficulties in life to become a doctor. He was ably supported throughout his college days by Kunjootan Vaidiyar - a rich socialist of his village. Vaidiyar considered Rajagopal just like his son manu and helped him in every ways to climb over his life of poverty. When he passed out as a doctor, Vaidyar himself made arrangements to secure him a good post in the city's super speciality hospital 'Daya'.

The family of Thrikottur Menon, who manages Daya hospital, found Rajagopal as very efficient and industrious. They forwarded a marriage proposal for Dr. Rajagopal from their family and Rajagopal was married to Rejani (Meera Vasudev).

But, Rajagopal couldn't digest the activities in the hospital. He began to question the un humanistic treatment measures adopted in the hospital just for making money. Very soon, he became  an enemy to Menon family and was eliminated from service in the hospital. Dr. Rajagopal now take the cause of anti humanistic treatment procedures in every private hospitals and come over to fight against it in public. What the story follows is the revolutions that he try to make in public health treatments in private hospitals.

The story has got a very contemporary outlook and space to explode against the evil doings in health sector. Mani has got  many a scenes to fire bombastic dialogues for social cause, penned  by T.A. Rasaq.

Director Anil, T.A.Rasaq and Mani are coming together after a gap of four years, their last together being 'Vaalkannadi'. Meera Vaasudev of 'Tanmathra' fame is playing the role of Rejani, the female lead in the film. Other important casts in the film includes Thilakan, Vijayaraghavan, Indrajith, Jagathy, Anil Murali and Ravikumar. The film also has a few songs penned by Balachandran Chullikkad and Hamza Kayanikkara set to music by Mohan Sithara. Cinematogaraphy is by Anandakuttan while P.C. Mohanan handles the editing of the film.

The creaters of the film are planning to rename the film as they find the title 'Kali' not so potential. The film will hit the theatres by the early weeks of June, sometimes with a new name.
