Garbhasreeman Movie Review - 'Garbhasreeman' is Avoidable

IndiaGlitz  [Monday, June 09, 2014]

Even as 'Garbhasreeman's promos starts running in theatres even before its lead actor Suraj Venjaramoodu fetched a National award, there were the clear suggestions about what it was going to be. A shoddily made trailer now follows a poorly made cinema in theatres now. With an amateurish screenplay and pathetic direction,' Garbhasreeman' hardly qualifies as a movie that is watchable for any reasons.

This Suraj movie, which is a straight release after the actor's big achievement  as the national best actor, has him as Sudheendhran, an young man running a courier service, but is finding it difficult to run a big family as he is neck drowned in debts. Reminding of the many Jayaram movies of the yore, he with his sidekick Gopalakrishnan ( Kalabavan Shajon)is running away from moneylenders who are in the verge of taking Sudhee's house and other properties away.  To avoid the embarrassing situations, he half heartedly agrees to be a carrier for a male pregnancy, for Dr Roy(Siddhique), who has been carrying research on the same for years. The young man gets impregnated, but is to face a different world around him that he never ever thought of . As male pregnancy is a taboo, the men around starts to see it with derision and even Sudhee's fiancée Alu fails to understand him. What follows form the rest of the movie.

The movie starts will all clichéd default situations that we have been with in many movies of the past. The makers tried it hard to make you laugh at every points, but the substandard attempts hardly raised even chuckles. The viewers were seen engaging in games of predicting what comes next and we must say they  succeeded in making up the most, and the few they missed were better than what we were subjected to on screen.  The central idea of male pregnancy was treated shoddily and the typical lab setup with coloured jars added to the unwanted jokes that worked well. Except for the makeup man who worked well on the fake belly that Suraj carried, every technical sides were poor matching the pathetic direction offered. Like the comic attempts, the sentimental scenes also never generated the desired effects. While the BGM's and music were average at best, fight scenes, choreography and the climax were poorly created. Among the actors who sleep walked through the roles, Suraj Venjaaramoodu was also there who appeared misfit most of the times for the role. Shajon does managed to make you laugh a couple of times. Siddhique in a heavy role was fine as usual while the debutante female lead Gowry Krishna must see this as a rather forgettable debut.

All in all , this 'Garbhasreeman' has an interesting central theme which is damaged with out any chance for correction and entertainment.
