Maestro Ilaiyaraaja was discharged from the Apollo Hospitals where he was admitted this Monday (23rd December).  Ilaiyaraaja complained of chest pain while rehearsing at the Prasad Studios in the city for the musical night titled 'King of Kings' which was to have been held in Malaysia this evening but has since been cancelled.

Doctors at the hospital diagnosed that the music director-par-excellence was having a couple of coronary blockage in the heart and performed angioplasty thereby removing the blockages in those places.  Still, the doctors advised Ilaiyaraaja to take complete rest and kept him under observation for two more days after shifting him from the ICU to the general ward. He was discharged yesterday evening as he has recuperated completely and regained his usual strength.
