More to come from Pandiraj, the Dialogue writer

IndiaGlitz [Wednesday, January 29, 2014]

"If I did not study well I should regret for that. Because studying well or not is in my hands. If I do not look good, why should I regret?" Thus goes the English translation of a dialogue uttered by the character ATM, made memorable by debutant actor Shalini, in the film Goli Soda, that released last week without much fanfare but has gained thunderous response from fans and unanimous appreciation of the critics after the release.

While Vijay Milton, the cinematographer turned director's script and film making are being lauded by one and all, the dialogues of the film have also received equal amount of appreciation.  The dialogues of the film were written by none other than Director Pandiraj. He has also played another important role in the film, a rather indirect one, by introducing the guys who were apt for the protagonists of Milton's script, through his film debut film Pasanga.   Kishore, Sriram, Pandi and Murugesh, the lead men of Goli Soda made their acting debut as school going children in Pasanga.

While Pasanga, was an offbeat one that achieved National awards apart from being successful at the box office, his recent film Kedi Billa Killadi Ranga a comedy caper that included commercial ingredients   was one of the money spinners of the year 2013. This proves Pandiraj as a director capable of winning awards as well as rewards.

In a telephonic chat, Pandiraj expressed his happiness for Goli Soda's commercial success and critical appreciations it is garnering from all corners.  He also shared a few more interesting information about his plans as dialogue writer.

It is to be noted that Pandiraj has written the dialogues for all the films he has directed so far and it is the first time, he has written for a film directed by someone else.  The former assistant of directors Thangar Bachan and Chimbu Devan is currently busy directing a film with Simbu and Nayanthara playing the lead roles.  He revealed that he is currently writing a script with dialogues that will have dialogues with even more strength and societal concern. He said he will direct that script as his next film or the one coming after that.

The director who has also ventured into production with the film Marina said, he wishes that at least one out of three films coming from him should have a theme that addresses a social issue, and they will be the ones that will quench the thirst of the creator in him.

It's of course not an unachievable task for a  man who has won double National award with his maiden film.
