Yurekha the director of moderate hit film Madurai Sambhavam is back with a film titlee Sivappu Enakku Pidikkum. As the title suggests, the film deals with the life of a Sex workeri. Sandra Emi who was a popular Television anchor and also known as a supporting actress plays the lead role in this film. Yurekha himself has donned a pivotal role. The rest of the cast includes new faces.
Recently the film was introduced to the Press people. At the event the director dared to speak some controversial subjects. Assuring that his film focuses only on the plight of sex workers and there won't be an iota of sleaze in his entire film, the director voiced for legalizing Prostitution in Chennai as a measure to tackle AIDS and sexual abuse of Children. He suggested opening Red light areas in places like E.C.R so that sex starved men would have an outlet and the women who indulge in this profession would have legal protection.
When a few Journalists vehemently opposed to the idea, the director remained cool and pointed out the fact that Prostitution exist from time immemorial. He said what he suggested is only a means to control other hazards of the profession that can never be completely eradicated from the society.
He also urged the government to open up more job opportunities for women which would discourage women from entering the profession that is considered as disgraceful in the society. Yurekha said this is the only possible way to put an end to this prostitution.
