A famous Tamil private TV Channel has planned to conduct the grand finale of one of its competitive shows in Colombo, the Capital of Srilanka. Director Va.Gauthaman who debuted with the film Magizchi has opposed the decision of the channel vehemently and requested the Channel owners to change the venue.
In his press statement the director drew attention to the fact that during the final stages of Srilankan Civil war Lakhs of innocent Tamils have been killed and the Srilankan Government has been defying for more than five years, the request of Tamils living across the world for an impartial enquiry into the alleged war crimes of the Lankan army. In such a scenario, a leading Tamil Channel conducting a grand event in Srilanka will present a false picture to the world that Tamils are living happily in Srilanka.
The director has also raised concerns about the event coinciding with the United Nations Human's Rights Council scheduled on March 10, 2014 in Geneva. He feels that a Tamil TV channel conducting a show in Srilanka, will have a detrimental effect on the campaign for International enquiry into Srilankan Army's alleged war crimes during the council meet.
Director Gowthaman is a well known pro Tamil Elam activist.
