Anniyan - Vikram
Chiyaan Vikram hasn't acted in a dual role film so far. However the actor's performance in the Shankar directed blockbuster film Anniyan can be equated with that of a triple role.
In this film the National award winning actor put in lot of efforts to pull out a character that is affected by Multiple personality disorder which meant he had to act in a character that had three entirely different shades. As an innocent conformist Ambi, a ultra modern geek Remo and a fictional character Anniyan who is out to punish the corrupt people. Vikram portrayed all the three roles more than convincingly and the film which had a telling impact on the society remains the most remembered and most successful film of the actor's career. Vikram also won the FIlmfare best actor award for this film.
Perazhagan - Suriya
Suriya who has carved a niche with his penchant for experimentation attempted dual role for the first time in the film Perazahgan that released in 2004. Suriya acted as a hunchback Chinna who is a self confident shopkeeper in a village and Karthik a urbane youngster. Suriya proved his versatility in acting with this film yet again and also won his first Filmfare award for Best Actor.
Another memorable dual role film of Suriya came with Vaaranam Aayiam directed by Gautham Menon. Suriya acted as a son and a father who are romantics at heart. Surya pulled off the father character which was much ahead of his age with finesse. The striking aspect of the film is that the role of the son character was not compromised and Suriya's performance in that role was equally appreciated.
Siruthai - Karthi
We do not know whether it was incidental or purposeful. Karthi got the opportunity to star in dual roles in the fourth film of his acting career. The film titled as Siruthai had Karthi playing two characters that are literally contrasting. A Police officer and a conman.
The major share of the film Karthi appeared as a conman and made us laugh with Santhanam in handy. The Police officer's role was a little more than a cameo and it has to be bold and upright.
Karthi successfully brought in the suitable looks, dialogue delivery and gestures for both the characters.
Siruthai directed by Siva remains the most profitable as well as likeable films in Karthi's career.
Manamadhan - Silamabrasan
T.R.SIlambarasan was just a new kid on the bloc hopping in the industry with a couple of hits and flops until he proved his mettle with the film Manmadhan that released in 2004. The son of multi talented cinema personality T.R.Rajendhar not only debuted as a scriptwriter but also did his first dual role with this film.
As the well educated city resident Madhankumar and his brother who is a small town based lover-boy Madhanraj Simbu proved his versatility in acting. In his first dual role film Simbu tried to differentiate both the characters he played with regards to looks, voice modulation and gestures. The pains he took for the film paid off well and the film is the first super hit in Simbu's career and also remains as one of the his best remembered films.
