The year 2014 has created a record in the history of Taml cinema. 53 films have been released in as early as 87 days after the beginning of the year. Santhosh Sivan directed Inam that is going to release on March 28 is the 50th Tamil film to hit the screens this year. This has been a record for the first 50 films of the year releasing in such a short period in the history of Tamil cinema.
The first set of films hit the screens this year on January 3 with five films releasing on that day. In the next weekend which was the long Pongal weekend the box office saw the clash of the titans with Vijay's Jillla and Ajith's Veeram releasing worldwide on Januyary 10.
The months ahead is going to witness the films of almost all the leading stars and the main attractions will Superstar Rajnikanth's Kochadiiyaan and Ulaga Nayagan Kamalhassan's Viswaroopam II and Uttama Villain. Vikrma's AI is being planned for summer release and Surya's Anjaan will hit the screens aroung August 15.Vijay's untitled film with A.R.Murugdoss and Ajith's film with Guathma Menon are expected to meet in the box office for Diwali 2014.
