Director's union back 'Inam'

Inam, the ambitious directorial venture of ace cinematographer Santhish Sivan, started facing controversies before hitting the screens. While the preview show was held for a select audience from the tinsel town and media, members of a Pro-Ezham faction called Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam has appealed to the Chennai City Police Commissioner to ban the film, since it denigrates the Ezham Tamils and also supports the Srilankan army which is allegedly responsible for killing scores of innocent Tamil civilians.

Director's union back 'Inam'

An urgent press meet called for by the Tamil Film Directors Union and the office bearers on unanimously voiced its support for the film. The president of the union, Director Vikraman said Inam aptly captures the suffering of Tamil during the Srilankan war. He also sought attention to the fact that it was the Directors uniion which stood up for the cause of Tamils at every instance of injustice caused to Tamil living across the globe.

Director R.K.Selvamani, the General Secretary of the union said that Inam speaks for the cause of Srilankan Tamil , a 100 times stronger that Kutrapathirikai directed by him. He added that Inam will take the injustice caused to Tamil to the international audience.

Selvamani also said that we should allow the curbing of creative freedom. Union's treasurer, Director V.Sekar and other members like Balaji Sakthivel, Sasi, Shanmugasundaram and Ravimariya have also expressed support for Inam.
