Actor Kamal Haasan is known for his patriotic activities. He has always associated himself with initiatives to make India a more respectable democracy. The Padma Bhushan actor recently starred in a campaign video of the Election commission in which he urged the people to use their voting rights in a proper manner and not to sell them for cash.

But Kamal has always distanced himself from politics are political parties. Today a news item published in a daily newspaper which seems as a slight deviation of the actor's strong unwillingness to stay away from politics has raised many eye brows.

The news published in 'Theekkadhir' the official newspaper of The Communist party of India (Marxist) states that actor Kamal Haasan has urged the voters to cast their votes for M.A.Baby, the MP candidate of the CPM party for the Kollam Lok Sabha Consituency.

The message from Kamal Haasan as reported in the newspaper has been translated here as follows:

"M.A.Baby belongs to the religion called 'Friendship'. I am proud to claim myself as his good friend. I have never seen another person matching the care he has for the development of many departments like arts, literature, music and cinema in India. His politics roots out of this cultural concern.

He also boasts of a broad scientific base. I have been astonished to note his deep knowledge about cinema. Baby adds glory to human relationships with his humanitarian approach. A person like Baby winning (in the elections) is essential for the nation".
