Director Vikraman, the President of Tamilnadu Film Director's Union has warned that the office bearers of the Union will not attend the events related to the films directed by those who are not its members. By stating this Vikraman urged all the directors to enroll themselves as the member of the Union.
Vikraman was speaking at the audio launch event of the film Akila Mudhalam Vaguppu. Even the director of this film was not a member and Vikraman said he took part in the event only because the director assured that he will become a member soon.
Vikraman alleged that many directors do not heed to the calls for gaining membership and come to the Union only if they face any problem. In such cases the Union will not be in a position to help them out.
The membership fee for Director's union is reportedly Rs.1 lakh. Debutante directors hardly have that much amount of funds before completing their film. Though there is a provision to pay the fee in installment many debutante directors who are unsure of continuing in the industry are disinterested towards membership.
