May 14 is certainly one of the most important days in the history of Cinema as well as music, Back in the .year 1976, it was the same date on which the film 'Annakili' made it to the screens. The film starring Sivakumar and Sujatha in lead roles directed by Devraj Mohan marked the beginning of a history.

A milestone day in film music industry

It was the debut film of a young chap named Ilaiyaraja who would go on to make a history in film music by remaining a successful composer for more than three decades and setting a unparallel record in the number of films worked.

Ilaiyaraja has scored music for hundreds of films in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi film industries and also churned out many music albums and composed the 'Thiruvasagam' in symphony.  Millions of his fans use his music as a treat to celebrate, heal for wounds and the abode for peace of mind.

In his 39th year of film career, Ilaiyaraja is busy composing tunes for his 1000th project 'Tharai Thappattai' the next directorial venture of National award winning film maker Bala.
