The King is back. After a painful wait of nearly four years, millions of fans will be getting the unparallel pleasure of watching our one and only evergreen Superstar Rajinikanth on the silver screen with the much anticipated 'Kochadiiyaan' hitting the screens across the globe today (May 23).

Chikku Kochadaiiyaan Movie Review

As it has been the case of every other Rajini film, fans across the state started celebrations right from a week prior to the release date.  Apart from visiting temples to offer pooja's, installing cut outs and banners, 'Kochadiiyaan' had a unique way of celebration which was environmental friendly too. Trees have been planted in various places from Tirunelveli to Chennai from 18th to 22nd May by Rajini fans and this has been titled as the 'Kochadiiyaan' Green Marathon.

On May 23, the special morning shows begun as early as 4 am and 5 am in various theatres across the state. Fans celebrated that king's return by the usual pal abishekam (pouring milk as a form of worship) on the large cut outs of the matinee idol, bursting crackers, blowing trumpets and mesmerized dancing. The film which introduced the all new Motion capture technology to Indian cinema has got a huge release than any other Rajini film. The film will be releasing in approximately 6,000 screens in 10 countries across the Globe.

In Tamilnadu state alone, as many as 477 screens are releasing the film. In 'Namma' Chennai, the release buzz has been phenomenal. Mayajaal, the city's first multiplex which has 16 screens has allocated 100 shows for the entire first week of the film. Rajini's previous film 'Enthiran' was allocated a record number of 90 shows in the same multiplex.

Another famous Cineplex at the heart of the City is SPI cinemas. With four outlets including the recently opened 'Luxe' cinemas in Phoenix mall in Velachery, SPI cinemas have sold a whopping 30,000 'Kochadiiyaan' tickets for the opening day. Sources close to the theatre management reveal that 'Kochadiiyaan' directed by the Superstar's younger daughter Soundarya Ashwin is likely to register a record opening, given the extremely positive prerelease buzz.

What are you waiting for? Grab the tickets and gear up to enjoy the Superstar extravaganza.
